Woman dies in car accident in Honomu

Most people when they leave the house to go to work, run an errand or visit friends and family don't anticipate that they'll never return home. Unfortunately, an unanticipated car accident can happen to just about anyone in Hawaii, with disastrous results.

For example, a fiery car crash in Honomu resulted in the death of a woman. The woman was sitting in the front passenger seat of an SUV being driven by a 23-year-old man. A three-year-old girl in a car seat was also in the car at the time of the crash.

The accident occurred, according to the driver of the SUV, when a propane truck crossed over into the lane the SUV was driving in, where there was a curve in a road. The SUV and propane truck crashed head-on, causing the propane truck to overturn. The propane truck was transporting over 1,700 gallons of propane. There was a leak in the truck, causing propane to spill and catch fire. Firefighters spent nearly 40 hours spraying the fire with water as they waited for it to burn out.

The man driving the SUV and the child were not injured in the crash. Unfortunately, the woman passed away at the scene of the accident due to a head injury. The propane truck driver was sent to an area hospital after he suffered head injuries in the crash. Police are investigating the incident as a case of negligent homicide.

This tragic accident never should have occurred. Unfortunately, fatal accidents happen all the time, leaving the victim's loved ones wondering how to move forward with their lives. They have lost their loved one's companionship and income. They may also be dealing with medical bills related to their loved one's death and funeral expenses. For all these reasons, when a person is killed in a motor vehicle accident, his or her loved ones may want to seek compensation for their losses.
