Richard Turbin, an attorney in Honolulu for over 37 years, was born in New York City, graduated from Cornell University, Magna Cum Laude, and Harvard Law School where he served as Editor and Author of the Harvard Civil Rights Law Review. Recently Richard Turbin was chosen a Traphagen Distinguished Alumni of Harvard Law School!

Since entering private practice in 1975, Mr. Turbin has concentrated in personal injury, medical malpractice and insurance claim cases. He was elected to the Hawaii Academy of Plaintiffs Attorneys and was a founder and President of the Consumer Lawyers of Hawaii.

In 2005 Richard Turbin was elected President of the Hawaii State Bar Association. He was also elected to the prestigious position of Chair of the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TTIPS) of the American Bar Association. With 40,000 members TTIPS is the largest organization of personal injury and insurance lawyers in the world. Richard Turbin served as leader of that organization during 1999-2000. He also served as Chair of the International Committee of that organization.

Richard Turbin has lectured to Hawaii lawyers in Hawaii on topics such as trial practice, evidence, how to handle wrongful death cases and to national audiences at the American Bar Association Convention on personal injury and insurance topics as well as to various community groups. He was the moderator and speaker for a Presidential Showcase Program at the 1995 American Bar Association meeting held in New York City on the important topic of handling Breast Cancer and other Women Cancer Cases. He hosted a radio program on law and lawyers featured on KGU Radio called "Putting Law in Order with Richard Turbin." He has authored manuals and articles on such topics as "No-Fault Insurance Law in Hawaii," "Evidence Law in Hawaii," "How to Present an Opening Statement" and authored a chapter in the McGraw Hill textbook Emergency Room Medicine.

Mr. Turbin's commitment to Hawaii's community is demonstrated by serving as Chairman of the Waialae-Kahala Neighborhood Board, a Civil Rights Commissioner, Chairman of the Professional Liability Insurance Committee of the Hawaii State Bar Association, President of the Bishop Street Exchange Club, and has been legal counsel for the Hawaii Jaycees, the Interscholastic League of Hawaii, and the Hawaii High School Athletic Association.

Mr. Turbin is an avid tennis player, skies, speaks French and Samoan, is married and is the father of two beautiful and successful children.

Richard Turbin was honored to win the American Bar Association's Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section prestigious "Pursuit of Justice Award" in 2006 and Temple Emanuel's "Justice Award" in 2005 and Player of the Year for the Hawaii Harlequin Rugby Football Club.
