Evening accident claims the life of a pedestrian

Driving at night presents different challenges for drivers than those traveling during the day. The reduced visibility that can happen when the sun sets can make seeing the road ahead of a driver significantly more complex. It is for this and other reasons that Hawaiian drivers should take extra precautions when they must operate their automobiles in the evening.

The dangers of night driving resulted in a horrific accident recently along Waianae Coast. Three young men, all between the ages of 20 and 22-years-old, were outside of their vehicle. They were attempting to make repairs to their truck when another vehicle traveling down the road collided with them. One of the young men died from his injuries and another was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The third victim sustained minor harm but refused medical treatment.

When approaching accidents, drivers should move over and slow down so that they can give the disabled vehicles and any occupants outside the vehicle plenty of space. In this case, it appears that the driver of the car that hit the young men veered too close to them and this tragic occurrence was the result.

Each of the victims in this story will experience different forms of losses. While the family members of the deceased victim may have rights to pursue their losses through a wrongful death claim, the seriously injured victim may have extensive medical bills to cope with when he is done recovering from his injuries. The victim who sustained the least physical harm may suffer serious mental harm as a result of his involvement in the accident.

No matter your experience in a motor vehicle crash, it is important to understand the legal recourses available to you. Victims and loved ones of deceased victims may want to learn more about their options by speaking with legal professionals experience din this area of law.
